Choosing Holiday Cottages in Chichester

Holiday cottages in Chichester have a great deal to offer, not least in terms of location. The town of Chichester has everything you could want from either a family or a romantic holiday – a buzzing town centre filled with lovely restaurants and funky bars; a beautiful historic feel; a wonderful harbour; and a neighbouring nature reserve perfect for walking and relaxing.

There are two basic type of cottage to choose from – town house type accommodation, which puts you in the medieval heart of the town itself; or a cottage around the harbour and nature reserve, which gives you a more traditionallcottage to enjoy. Whichever you choose, you’re never far from the sea or the town. Ideal then for families who like a bit of everything!

For the adventurous, there are water sports to be had in the Witterings, which pick up more surf than anywhere else in the area. And if you like your holidays traditional there’s nothing like a meal in a country pub, of which there are hundreds within easy striking distance of Chichester town itself.

Holiday cottages in Chichester also technically include peaceful Sussex cottages in the neighbouring villages of Itchenor, Dell Quay and Bosham – all of which have their own superb little harbours and beaches. Or stay in the Witterings themselves for some upmarket holiday cottages, perfect holiday lets for living the lifestyle of the rich and famous for a few days! External hot tubs, beautiful gardens and saunas abound in this haven for the wealthy, which you can sample for a week at pretty reasonable prices.
If you’re after a real rural retreat you couldn’t do much better than looking for a holiday cottage in the tiny market village of Petworth. Again, holiday cottages in Petworth are technically referred to as holiday cottages in Chichester, so when you’re looking be aware this is where you will find them categorised.

Petworth is a charming little English market town, a virtual time machine of a place where everything looks like something out of a Constable painting – and the imposing pile of Petworth House is just round the corner. A great place for a day out, Petworth House and Park is also the star of many a period drama – you’ll recognise it as soon as you see it! – and hosts a variety of concerts and shows throughout the summer months.

Wherever you choose to stay in and around Chichester, you’ll find a mix of country charm and modern amenities. The perfect mix, in my opinion. I actually prefer to stay in Chichester town and radiate out to the little village and harbour towns around it – but of course to each their own. You might like it better the other way around. Be sure to catch them during the Spring, Summer or Autumn months when the weather is at its best.
